Studies for the upgrade of public space at “Thermi Open Mall”
In the present study, alternative materials for the restoration of the existing fountains at Karaoli & Dimitriou Street are proposed. The selection of materials was grounded on durability for the intended use, aesthetics, as well as on the integration with the materials used on both the study area and the adjacent sidewal.
The materials were chosen based on durability for the intended use and improvement on the aesthetics of the surrounding area.
Five (5) alternative solutions for the restoration of the fountains are proposed. In some solutions the materials chosen stick to the construction philosophy and dimensions of the existing situation materials. In others new materials were chosen. These differ from the existing ones both in color texture and application, and they highlight the morphology of the fountains.
